There have been many 9/11 stories, some unbelievable, some heart wrenching, some inspirational. Many of these stories are burned into our memories. The song I am sending to you today is based on a little publicized story of the volunteer maritime rescue of a 1/2 million people who were stranded on Lower Manhattan after the towers were hit and exits off the island were closed. The story in this song is a testimony to the human spirit. Angels Flew is included in the 9/11 National Memorial Artists Registry.

I've been hitting your mailboxes pretty hard lately. I hope you don't mind the flurry-of-missives. We're working extra hard these days in the Hey Dave Music camp to release new music and it's been paying off! Reviews and radio spins are happening around the world for the new album, Hero Street! The latest is that the “Hero Street” title track has already managed a #1 position on Roots Music Report's Alt-Folk Chart as of July 4! And if you look closely, you might recognize the chap in the #2 position as well:) What a way to celebrate our nation's 250th!
Speaking of Hero's: we are sending out a brand new full length video of the Hero Street track produced by Neighborhoods Apart/Nashville. These guys work with folks like Emmylou, Lucinda Williams, Tommy Emmanuel, Chris Stapleton, Jason Isbell (even John Prine when he was with us). This is a ‘love ya’ note to each of you on my Hey Dave Music mailing list. Hero Street is my 12th album. I'm still here because you're still here with me. I'm a music-maker but you are the listeners. The listeners rule! I can make all the music I want but it's the listener that completes every song (Pete Townsend said that and it's so true). In this unpredictable world you have been a welcome constant. You are truly part of an exclusive group. A group that helps me help others in a ripple effect that has limitless possibilities! Thank you for your gracious and persistent support my friends! Much gratitude from your friend ~David
Click the link or the album cover image below to pick up a copy of Hero Street ( physical or virtual options plus autographed CD if you want:). And if the spirit moves…please spread the news!
